MY STORY
I’m Tim O'Loan, a proud Sahtu Dene from the Northwest Territories, and a veteran who served 10 years in the military (1983-1993). After my military service, I pursued an undergraduate degree in Political Science, which led to a career as a Land Claims and Self-Government Negotiator for the Government of the NWT from 1998 to 2006. I later moved to Ottawa to earn a Master’s degree in Canadian Studies from Carleton University.
In 2010, I was honoured to be invited to join the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada as the Advisor to TRC Chair, (Late) Hon. Murray Sinclair. During my time with the Commission, I had the privilege of delivering presentations on reconciliation to various institutions, stakeholders, and governments across Canada.
Today, I’m the Founder and President of ReconciliActions Inc. and one of Canada’s premier speakers on reconciliation. Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to advocating for Indigenous issues and fostering reconciliation. My presentations combine personal stories, life-changing videos, and research-based insights to educate, inspire, and encourage greater understanding of Indigenous issues and the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
