MY STORY
I’m Geordie, a retired high school principal and educator, father to Jennifer and Brenden, and partner to my wife Linda. For the past 24 years, I’ve lived on unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin territory, and my passion for supporting students’ success is driven by the belief that all students want to succeed and will if given the opportunity.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked to support the TRC calls to action, built relationships with Indigenous communities in Ottawa, and incorporated decolonization practices into my daily approach as a school leader. I am committed to confronting systemic racism and ensuring that barriers to education are removed for all students.

I am a founding member of Hard Conversation, a support group for administrators confronting systemic racism in public education, and I believe deeply in the importance of building relationships, instructional leadership, and the positive impact that school leaders have on professional learning and student achievement. After retiring from my role as a principal with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, I now teach at the University of Ottawa, mentor and coach with the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, and occasionally work as a supply principal. I recently founded KSW Consulting, where I present on decolonizing learning and work environments, having spoken to groups such as Services Canada, the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
