BRIAN GRAY
MY STORY
I am a strong ally for reconciliation, passionate about building collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities. My career has taken me across North America and through various sectors, including private, public, and not-for-profit organizations.

I joined the federal public service in Ottawa in 2005 and spent 16 years in senior roles, including as Assistant Deputy Minister of Science and Technology at Environment and Climate Change Canada, Natural Resources Canada, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). During my five years as the Indigenous Champion for AAFC, I created the Indigenous Support and Awareness Office and the award-winning Indigenous Student Recruitment Program. I concluded my public service career by leading the creation of the Federal Indigenous STEM Cluster, a cross-departmental initiative. After a brief retirement, I served as interim CEO for Ducks Unlimited Canada in 2022-2023, where I helped finalize their path forward on Reconciliation.

Now in semi-retirement, I remain active by writing, consulting, and volunteering as an advisor, executive coach, and mentor.
