MY STORY
My name is Albert Beck, and I am a proud Red River Métis citizen from the Manitoba Métis community. With extensive experience in Indigenous policy, social services, and community development, I have worked as a researcher, analyst, and advocate on various Indigenous issues, providing advice to both Indigenous organizations and government officials.

As an Indigenous Reconciliation and Relations Expert, I help non-Indigenous individuals and organizations better understand Indigenous cultures and histories while supporting Indigenous communities in developing strategies for healing and reconciliation. Currently, I serve as the Director of the Sixties Scoop, Residential, and Day Schools Department at the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), where I lead efforts to address trauma caused by government policies and promote reconciliation in child welfare, justice, and education.

I am also a committee member on national Indigenous issues, including the 2SLGBTQQIA+ Committee and the MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ National Action Plan, and serve as President of the Ontario HIV/AIDS Strategy. A proud graduate of the United Nations Indigenous Fellowship Programme, I had the honor of attending the 2023 UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York as a delegate to advance Indigenous HIV/AIDS matters in Canada. Outside of my work, I enjoy volunteering and spending time outdoors.
