MY STORY
I am a member of Peavine Metis Settlement, one of the eight land-based Metis Settlements in Alberta, which was formed in 1938. I have been married for many years, and together with my wife, we’ve raised five children and are proud grandparents to three grandchildren.

As a survivor of sexual violence, I disclosed my trauma in my mid-30s, and in 2009, alongside my brother and cousins, I decided to speak up and press charges. Going through the court system in 2010, we also began a men’s healing group, supported by the High Prairie RCMP and the PACE Sexual Assault Center in Grande Prairie. Since 2012, I’ve served as a board member with the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services (AASAS), which operates 15 centers across Alberta to support victims of sexual violence.

Over the years, I’ve traveled across the province to share my story, educate others, and build awareness about sexual violence. Through the unwavering love and support of my wife and children, my mission has been to empower survivors to speak up, gain confidence, and access the resources available for healing. Ultimately, I am driven by the hope that we are creating a safer, healthier world for future generations, free from harm and violence. As I always say, “This is all about the babies. What are we doing today and tomorrow to ensure they live free from harm and violence?”
